The Early Bird Catches the Worm

Dawn Chorus Walk 2016

Saturday 14th May 2016 was our Bradgers Hill Dawn Chorus walk. It really was a case of the early bird catching the worm. Starting at 5am at the community centre on Hancock Drive, local bird expert Andy Grimsey led a group of approximately ten people on a walk around Bradgers Hill.

The morning was cold but with already hints of the sunny weather to come later in the morning. The walk followed on perfectly from Andy's previous walk at our last monthly meeting. Very soon Andy was pointing out to us the sights and sounds of Blackbirds, Robins, Lapwings, Skylarks, Yellowhammers, Blackcaps, Whitethroats, Kestrels, Wrens, Jays, Chaffinchs, Song Thrush, Willow Warblers, Meadow Pipits, Crows, Chiffchaffs and many more.

Our walk lasted approximately two hours and included a few new faces. We hope you will all be back to another event.

Our thanks go once again to Andy Grimsey for an enjoyable and informative walk. Andy will be back next year for our Dawn Chorus Walk 2017.

You can see a handy table that Andy prepared that lists the birds that you could encounter in the area here!
