Dog Rose

The Dog Rose (Rosa Canina)  is a wild rose species native to Europe, north west Africa and and western Asia. It is a climbing rose and can usually range in height from one to five metres although thanks to the small hook shaped prickles that cover its stems, it can sometimes climb to the top of taller trees.

The flowers are 4-6 cm in diameter and have five petals that are usually pale pink in colour but can sometimes vary from white to a deeper pink. The hips are 1.5-2 cm and are red / orange in colour and are rich in vitamin c.

If your see one, take a photo and submit it to us for use on this website. We’d love to see your submission.
